New or notable science fiction and fantasy entries on the Prime Time TV schedule, also including programs that may be of interest to genre fans. Air dates and times subject to change without notice.
The Summer season gets going at full steam this week with four more premieres. On Monday, MTV’s Teen Wolf returns for its fifth season and its discussion series Wolf Watch immediately follows the premiere. Then on Tuesday, Teen Wolf airs a second new episode which acts as a lead-in to MTV’s new horror series Scream. Also on Tuesday, the new CBS animal-pocalypse series Zoo has its debut, and then on Wednesday CBS’ third Summer sci fi entry Extant returns for its second season. Wrapping up this week are Syfy’s Olympus and Showtime’s Penny Dreadful, but two more shows are on the way to replace them (coincidentally on the nights they are vacating) as Syfy’s Dominion and FX’s The Strain will have their second season bows next week. Added to the listings this week is USA’s Mr. Robot which had its debut last week. It’s not really a sci fi series (more sci fi meets dystopian real world sci fact), but genre fans should definitely take an interest in this show. And for those wondering what’s going on with The Messengers, that show returns next week to air out its final two episodes
Also of note, BBC America will be running a July the 4th marathon of Star Trek: The Next Generation from 6 AM Friday to 8 PM Saturday and Syfy will be doing a Twilight Zone marathon from 8 AM Saturday to 3 AM Sunday (plus, IFC will be doing a Monkees marathon!).
