Spring season, which comprises the April/May months and is also referred to as “Bridge Season”, has become a big deal for the cable networks the last few years as they use that time to warm up their upcoming Summer schedule which is where they typically pull a lot of viewers away from the old school, broadcast networks. We’ve already had the premieres of Daredevil (Netflix), Salem (WGN) and Olympus (Syfy), and this weeks brings the returns of Game of Thrones (HBO), Orphan Black (BBC America), Lost Girl (Syfy), and Bitten (Syfy). Also debuting on BBC America this week is Tatau which looks like one of those conspiracy shows that may have some genre elements. Over on The CW, pre-apocalypse show The Messengers finally gets its debut, but I’m thinking that is more of a burn-off run because it is starting so late in the season and they have scheduled it on Fridays. Along with all these premieres, there’s only one repeat for the week so we have a pretty full slate of new genre episodes to watch (you better hope you binge-watched Daredevil this weekend, because there won’t be much spare time for it). After that, I believe you will just find new episodes on BBC America.
