Chart activity for sci fi / fantasy TV shows for the week of April 14th through 20th:

game-of-thrones-dragonsIt may seem to be getting a bit old to see the cable shows continue to smite the broadcast networks (or, maybe like me you are loving it), but Game of Thrones again achieved a big win for last week.  That series improved its numbers from the prior week to a 3.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and that was enough for it to be the top rated show across cable and the broadcast nets for the Monday-Sunday timeframe (as well as the most watched based on total viewers on the cable channels).  Of course it was a particularly slow week ratings-wise and CBS juggernaut The Big Bang Theory aired a repeat (two actually, and both made it into the Top 10), but that does not lessen that fact that a premium cable series is beating out everything else on TV, including the shows on the “free” channels.  With The Walking Dead killing it earlier in the season and Game of Thrones now taking up the scepter late in the season, it appears that the cable channels are continuing to assert their presence as the old school nets lag further and further behind.  GoT also remained in the Nielsen Twitter Rankings, though it slipped a few notches for the week to Number 4.  Most of the usual suspects were in the broadcast network Top 25 for the week, though Resurrection slipped out because it was preempted.  And Once Upon A Time fell to the lower rungs as its ratings slipped to a series low of a 1.7 score.  The fact that it remained in the Top 25 with those numbers shows just how low the overall ratings are for the broadcast networks at this late point in the season.
